Math + Data

  • Kirkland Library 308 Kirkland Avenue Kirkland, WA, 98033 United States (map)

We subconsciously think about data all the time - when counting candy, observing our shadows, and through many other daily interactions. Together we will explore how data can be collected, visualized, and used to understand the world around us!

In this workshop, we will use candy to learn about data science concepts, such as sorting, graphing, and data analysis. Using the data we collect, we will make predictions about what we can expect to find in an unopened bag of candy. Then, we will reflect as a group on how data science can be used to observe and understand other parts of our lives!
